Farm House Salon

It’s such a treat and luxury (without the crazy lux prices!) to go to a private salon. I’ve been to Derek’s old salon and couldn’t resist checking out his new space on a recent trip to Richmond. It’s a beautiful, spacious salon with window view right over Carytown. It’s nice to be in a quiet space without all of the hustle and bustle of a noisy salon. Derek is so easy to chat with, but you could also just watch TV or listen to music and set your own ambience. All of that and a fabulous hairstylist that knocks it out of the park every time? I make sure to see him every time I get to Richmond - and am very jealous of the locals who can be there for regular appointments!

I cannot believe I’ve never given Derek a review before today. I’ve been coming here for years and have always loved my hair. Derek is always super honest about what will look good but also helps you get what you’re looking for when you want a change. He’s a very skilled colorist and does amazing balayage. He did my hair for my wedding, engagement, professional headshots, etc. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Derek is the best! My old hair stylist died my hair black... which later turned gray????. It was a hot mess. I went to Derek and he worked a miracle. Not only is my hair amazing (and a natural shade of blonde), I also just love spending time with him. He’s a great therapist also????. 5 stars are not enough!!
