I came in hoping for a reverse balayage to go a little darker for the fall as this is something I usually do this time of year (I had a full head of highlights which are grown out no more than 2inches). I provided an inspo picture. This is my second time at this salon. My stylist, Irene, advised that I had too much going on with my hair and balayage would not be possible, and recommended lowlight application with foils and freshening upmy money piece. I didn’t really understand this (as I’ve had reverse balayage done multiple times in the past) but I trusted her expertise so went with it. My hair turned out pretty dark all over (compared to the balayage I wanted) which I didn’t love but wasn’t my major concern. I have been getting my hair professionally done (highlights/lowlights/balayage/etc) every 3-6 months for 15+ years and have never had a stylist struggle to lift my roots.
