Flair Salon and Spa

I struggled to write this review as I’ve had positive experiences with Flair in the past, however, my recent experience was not great. I went to Karissa for a balayage and walked out with a pretty severe chemical burn which forced me to cut approximately 3” off. It’s pretty upsetting to pay almost $300 for color that has to be cut due to your hair being fried. I waited several months and decided to go back (again, she’d colored my hair in the past without any issues so I gave her the benefit of the doubt). I asked for a “chocolate brown” toner and she asked me to show her inspiration photos, which I did. She used a toner which pretty much made my hair it’s natural color. Now I have paid over $350 to have my hair look like it naturally does. Also, prices have gone up an exorbitant amount. I believe they charge $70 or $80 for a simple haircut. I’ll be looking for a different salon/stylist.

Before Flair, I had gone platinum blonde at several high end salons in Houston, each time leaving with either purple hair, chemical burns or clusters of hair completely singed off (on top of spending upwards of $400). When I found Mauricio, I was understandably nervous, but I could not have been happier when I walked out of the salon that day. He is a master at his craft and takes special care to perfect the entire process. Small gestures, like using aquaphor to make sure the bleach does not burn or come into contact with my neck or face, set him apart from any colorist I have seen before. His pricing is also extremely affordable compared to so many Houston salons. TLDR: If you’re looking for a colorist that you can afford AND trust, don’t hesitate to reach out to Mauricio. His authenticity and skill are truly on another level.

They charged me $70 for just a straight trim of my medium length hair. After about 6 weeks, I went on YouTube to find a tutorial on how to cut your own hair, straight across for free. It worked great and looked better than what this salon did. Service: Haircut
