I would like to share the story of how I found out about Chan and the Portland Curl Room. My daughter picked me up from a cut and color at my usual salon, which was very high end, natural products and organic everything. She was aghast that my hair was already frizzing and tucked into a tight ponytail to keep it away from my face. 'Mommy, you need to go to Chan,' she said. A couple of months later I was driving back from a windy and drizzly stay at the beach, with wild hair shoved into a tight ponytail. I remembered about Chan, pulled over on the highway, and made the call. In a sunny, plant-filled studio, Chan cut my hair while dry to make sure to follow the natural waves and inclinations of my hair. In the washroom, the magic began. Chan explained that frizzy hair is just curls reaching out for moisture, while working a gentle shampoo and moisturizer through my hair. The squelching sounds of my happy hair and murmurings of encouragement assured me that I was resting in capable hands.

Chan is such a delight and always does an amazing job with my hair. Whether it be cut or color, I always leave the salon feeling beautiful and like Chan really understood my and my hairs needs. My curly hair has never looked so good.
