I went to Ash & Oak once and I liked my haircut and stylist. I intended to continue using their services for the foreseeable future. However, during the month of December I had to cancel once for a funeral and called a few days prior once I realized the conflict with my appointment. (Edited to emphasize after their response, my first cancellation was with MORE than 24 hours' notice and I informed them it was for a family funeral - also an unexpected event). Today I needed to request a cancellation within 24 hours of my appointment because my little dog unexpectedly had a stroke and needed to be taken to the emergency vet. I explained that I had been up all night with her without sleep. I was told I'd be charged 50% of my appointment fee for the cancellation. I'm a therapist myself and if a client cancels and I don't charge a fee, I don't get paid. I understand they have a business to run. I've been an Ash as Oak client for several years, and I have never had a bad experience! I usually go to the Hampden location because that is my stylist's primary location, but the Catonsville location is equally fantastic! The staff are always friendly, and I have never left feeling like anything other than a friend to the entire team. Amanda has created such an incredible atmosphere and culture of women supporting each other that you can't help but feel it the second you walk in the door. The product lines they use are incredible, and my hair has never been healthier or in better shape, even though I color it more now than I ever have before. I highly recommend taking the OI Milk home with you!
