I have been seeing Tunowa for YEARS. And she knows hair, locs & curls like a first language. This review is specifically about my first major chop. Went from passed bra length hair to short pixie cut. As someone rocking their natural curly hair everyone & they mama told me NOT to cut my hair “your hair so beautiful” “people would kill for your hair” “you’ll regret it” all those projections are not my problem. Tunowa & Marie helped me feel confident and valid in what I wanted and beyond supported my decision to chop off my luscious curls and I’ll never go back. The salon itself is safe and gives comfort and security we all deserve. Marie and Tunowa work collaboratively naturally. They are both very wise humans that anyone can trust with their precious crown. Very kind, loving, & honest people. Curls before & after. Marie is not only a very talented professional and probably the best colorist I’ve gone to, but a lovely and thoughtful person. Before my appointment, I mentioned that I had hurt my back and she remembered to help me up from the wash basin. I try my best to support businesses I like, and even in this case when I moved out of the area and it’s harder to plan appointments. I’m very excited to see this business grow and thrive and I wish them the best of luck.

I had a fantastic time here seeing Tunowa for my first appointment. The space is very welcoming and comfortable. I believe you must book an appointment online before visiting, but their website is very easy to navigate. The session itself was great. She walked me through step-by-step on everything she was doing to my hair and how I can do it at home. She answered any questions I had regarding the process and why she was using the products she used in my hair. I not only left with a great haircut, but a lot of knowledge on how to work on my hair. I can really recommend this salon, and also encourage men who may be a little shy to visit the salon. You need to treat your hair right too ????
